I'm talking about well-prepared, delicious uncooked food at Jill's!
Sometimes I forget I'm in Brooklyn...
I tried Jill's $20 prix fixe yesterday and let me tell you, you will not get bored at this place.
I had the mini pizzas, 2 salad combo with mixed greens, and a chocolate thumbprint for dessert.
Of course, the mini pizzas don't taste like the mucusfest that is mozarrella and tomato goodness (for some of you, anyway), but it was tasty enough that it had me wanting more.
The 2 salad combo was a marinated kale salad, and a hijiki salad that tasted fresh from the ocean-in a, this is fresh way, and not a, eww, way.
The thumbprint, a three bite-sized treat that wants to be both a cookie and a brownie, was amazing.
Overall, the menu at Jill's is varied, with a range of salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts to satisfy the savory, sweet, and salty tooths of even the most discriminating palates (I'm talking about you).
What I like about raw food done good (yes, I said it. Who wants a piece of me?), is that my meal didn't leave me gassy and bloated. Jill's menu leaves you full but not heavy. And that is Live Foods done well. ;-P
I can't wait to go back to try the chocolate layer cake. But not before I try the green wraps, black rice, raw falafel, and the pumpkin nut milk that's right on time for Halloween.
Speaking of, Jill's is throwing their own little spookfest on Halloween complete with raw treats, ghost stories, and gourd decorating. Bring the little crumbsnatchers!
Details: Wednesday, October 31st, 2-6pm, $12. Call 718 797 0330 to reserve your spot.
Jill's also offers a cleansing fast regimen, in case any of you need a little help releasing this week's gluttonous activities.
If you visit Jill's or any of the other 8 participating restaurants, including the online one, and send me your review. You might win yourself one of these prizes.
Oh yeah, you can buy raffle tickets for the Vita-Mix blender and/or the $25 Gift Certificate to Pumpkin's Organic Market. I've even thrown in a tour, just in case you need a little guidance.
